Wednesday News

We had a great day in Camp Kindergarten!
We started our day with the Happy Camper interview and name book. We then transitioned to reading groups, where the kiddos worked on the /m/ sound, reading, sight words, and listening. After reading, we were able to go outside for a short recess. It wasn't the best weather, but at least we got outside, :) We then came in and did calendar. We focused on place value and graphing today. After calendar, we did our Daily News. We are still working on the sentence, "I can..." for the news. Once we were done with our sentence, we started math. During math we focused on five and one, two, three (5+1, 5+2, and 5+3). Although many kiddos already know the answer, we were actually working on the conceptual knowledge of adding and manipulating the equations. We ended our day together with a read aloud called, Bundle of Sticks. The students listened for the problem and the solution. The moral of the story was, when we work together, we're stronger. We talked about what that meant and gave a few examples.
