Thanks to all our wonderful dads for coming this morning!
Donuts with Dad was a hit!
We had a great day in kindergarten!
We started our time together with a math counting lesson. We then transitioned to reading groups, where the kiddos worked on the letter Mm, sight words (read it, write it, build it), listening, computers, and reading. After groups, we went out to recess. Please send your child with a coat, as it is quite cold (even when the sun is out). After recess, we talked more about what an opinion is and the students came up with their opinion statement when comparing the books No, David and Peter's Chair. For example, I liked No, David because it was funny. We're continuing to build our writing stamina and I'm truly impressed with how well the kiddos focus! After writing, we did our calendar and Daily News routine. Finally, we ended our day together with a math lesson, focusing on ordering and matching numbers.
Important Information:
1. Homework folders are due tomorrow (10-23-15). Inside
the folders, on the right back to school side, should be your child's
completed homework.
2. Library books are due tomorrow.
3. We have music and P.E. tomorrow. Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate shoes.
4. We will not have library checkout tomorrow due to the book fair. We will, however, let the kiddos walk through the book fair and make a wish list.
5.
Please practice the flash cards you were given at Open House with your
kiddo (sight words and numbers). Daily practice for just a few minutes
is better than one big chunk at
once. Pick one thing to have your child work on, start with a few cards
and gradually add more as they learn them. You do not want to
overwhelm them in the first sitting. For example, if they do not know
all their letters, go through and pull out the ones that they know
without any prompting, then add one or two more that you want
to teach them. FYI: studies show that B and D need to be introduced
separately, students need to be solid on one, before you even think
about adding the other.
6.
Just a reminder that the PTO and school calendars are linked on the
side of the blog. All upcoming events are posted there and is a great
resource.
7. Bring in any gently used costumes for our PV service project. Click HERE to read all about it!
8. PV Fitness Fair is tonight 10-22-15! Read all about it below (click the picture to make it larger)!
9. Our Halloween party will be Friday, 10/30/15 from 9:50-10:45 (am) and 2:00-2:55 (pm).
Just a reminder that if you'd like to help out with our party, please email me. Also, kinders wear their costumes to school. Costumes should NOT be scary (no blood, guts, etc.) and NOT include any sort of weapons. If you have specific questions about your child's costume, please feel free to email me.
