Happy Monday!
After our first week
of homework, I thought it would be a good idea to connect and
re-explain a few things (where things should live, when things are due,
etc.).
Your child should do one
sentence per day and 3-4 math problems per day. The math page is NOT
meant to be done in one sitting.
Take Home Book:
The take home book needs to live in the plastic envelope/bag! Once your child has read the book, have them put it back in the plastic envelope/bag and back into their backpack.
Everyone
will bring a book home on Monday to
be returned on Thursday. They will
get a different book or keep their
current book on Thursday to be returned on Monday. If you think
your child needs a new book or to move up/down a level, please send a note in
their plastic book envelope. BOOKS WILL NOT BE EXCHANGED WITHOUT A NOTE!
The Take Home Books are part of my classroom library. Please do not let your child write or color on them. They should be treated like a library book.
Library Books:
Please do not put your child's Prairie View library book in their Take Home Book plastic envelope/bag. The book should be kept in your child's backpack when they are not reading it.
All library books are due on Friday.
There are times when your child returns a book to the library and it doesn't get checked in right away. If your child was told they have a book out still, please let me know. I'll check with the librarian and let you know asap what the status is.

If ever you aren't sure when something is due or what our schedule is, please refer to the Welcome to Kindergarten letter. It has everything you'll need to navigate the crazy and VERY fun kindergarten waters. If your question isn't answered there, please email me.
Note: The Kindergarten letter was attached to my email (sent today) and can be found in your Open House packet.
Important Information:
1. Homework folders went home today. Please have your child do their Monday name and sentence.
Again, here are the "very hard to follow, but super important for your kiddo's growth" homework rules:
#1- Do not spell anything for them,
#2 Do not write anything for them,
#3 Do not tell them they wrote something incorrectly.
You literally smile and say good job! I am so proud of you! That is perfect!

2. Take Home Books came home today! Make sure your kiddo reads their take
home book at least once to you. Remember, it's very normal and
developmentally appropriate for kiddos to use picture clues. Please do
not cover the pictures in your child's book.
3. Please continue to help your child
sell cookie dough. Remember, if your kiddo sells or receives donations,
to fill out the white coupon and send it in. They will get a minion key
chain for every 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15 tubs they sell/donations they receive. Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Dough paperwork is due Friday!
4. If you have not yet put the yellow transportation tag on your child's backpack, please do that tonight. It so helpful and important that we know how your child will be getting home.
5. If you haven't turned in all your school forms, please do so asap! Thanks!
6. Box Tops are Due on October 1st, so you can send them in anytime this week!
7. Reading Group rotations officially start tomorrow! Woohoo! :)
